Bonnifield Log House, c. 1838
Old Settlers Association Park, at Waterworks Park

Originally built about 8 miles east (near Lockridge) in 1838, the log house was moved and re-erected here in 1907 by the Old Settler’s Association.

This house is considered to the oldest remaining white settler's cabin in Iowa.

The name "Fairfield" was chosen in this home during an 1839 meeting to name the town.

Prairie Style House (Frank Lloyd Wright style), 1992
1000 Walton Road

Although built in 1992, this home was inspired by the first of Frank Lloyd Wright's homes to include all of the components of his Prairie-style designs.

Modeled on the 1901 Ward Willits House in Highland park, Illinois, it was modified to incorporate Maharishi Sthapatya Veda principles.

The covered terraces, horizontal bands of windows, horizontal trim, and broad overhanging roof mark the feeling of growing "easily from its site", a Frank Lloyd Wright principle.

Prairie Style homes marked a major change from the then popular Victorian homes.
