Northwestern Trail of the Loop Trail - Scroll down to view the map.

Construction of part of the Northwestern Trail is currently taking place.  On August 10, 2009, the Fairfield City Council opened bids to construct the Whitham Woods section of the Loop Trail, from Mitchell Creek east to Brookville Rd.

        Parts of the Northwestern Trail section are now under construction.
Along Business Hwy 34 -parts of the Northwestern Trail section are now under construction. West of Whitham Woods -parts of the Northwestern Trail section are now under construction.

Northwestern Trail Specs

Length=  About 3 miles (when completed).

Surface=  Will vary from lime chips to concrete.

Northeast Entry=  8th Street and Gear Ave, at the southern end of the North Trail.

Southwest Entry=  Will connect with the northern end of the Iowa DOT Trail, just southwest of Whitham Woods.

Parts of the Northwestern Trail section are now under construction.

The end of the DOT Trail goes north under the new Business Hwy 34 bridge at Mitchell Creek.  It connects with the Whitham Woods section (under construction).
