B Street Segment of the Loop Trail - and its History
The final section (the third section) of the hard surfaced North B Street trail/sidewalk was constructed in Sept/Oct 2010, and finished in spring 2011.
History - A sidewalk was built along B Street as part of the Bikeway/Walkway Plan. It was constructed in three sections.
The first section began at the intersection with Stone Ave and was built northward to the Waterworks Park entrance. Construction started in April 2008, but was delayed by unusually wet weather, and was not completed until late October 2008.
The second section was built northward from Waterworks Park to connect with the Loop Trail at the intersection of Zimmerman Blvd. Construction took place in 2009 and 2010.
The third section was built in 2010-11 to extend the trail/sidewalk further north from Zimmerman Blvd to connect to the Railroad segment of the Loop Trail. This way, the Loop Trail uses the new trail/sidewalk, rather than the street surface, between the Railroad segment and the Lake-to-Lake segment. Therefore, this third section is the "B Street segment of the Loop Trail".
We will head north on B Street, starting at Zimmerman Blvd, also the west end of the Lake-to-Lake segment. (07/16/10, jfr)

A sidewalk was built along B Street as part of the Bikeway/Walkway Plan. The southern end connects to Stone Ave and the northern end is at the Waterworks Park entrance. Construction started in April 2008, but was delayed by unusually wet weather. It was completed in late October 2008.

B Street Segment of the Loop Trail, B Street Sidewalk Extension, Pt 2 - 2009
The second section of the sidewalk was built northward from Waterworks Park to connect with the Loop Trail (the Lake-to-Lake Trail) at the intersection of Zimmerman Blvd. Construction started in 2009, halted for the winter, and was resumed in April 2010, at the same time as work started on the third section of the sidewalk (which extended north from Zimmerman Blvd to the Railroad Trail).

This third section was built in 2010-11 to extend the sidewalk further north to meet the Railroad segment of the Loop Trail, and is called the "B Street segment". This way, Loop Trail users can travel on this trail/sidewalk, rather than on the street surface, between the Railroad segment and the Lake-to-Lake segment at Zimmerman Blvd.
