The Fairfield Loop Trail encircles the city with more than 16 miles of scenic path — connecting woods, lakes, prairies, and parks. Together with the wider trail system, there's over 30 miles to walk, run, and ride.
Who we are
The Jefferson County Trails Council builds, constructs, and maintains a network of trails for public use and enjoyment — and works to promote, inform, and educate the public about the trail system.
What began in 1997 as an effort to extend a single park trail has grown into a celebrated loop that encircles Fairfield, joining woodlands, retired railroad beds, three city lakes, and a dozen parks.
