Lamson Woods/Neff Segment, July 2007

Part of the Lamson Woods Trail segment of the Loop Trail runs through the Neff Wetlands, on the dike.

Wetland grasses grow fast and provide food for birds, such as ducks.

Water is drained in the Fall, then replenished in the Spring.

At the gazebo we enter the 342' boardwalk/bridge over the wetlands and Crow Creek.

The Carl Zillman Bridge/Boardwalk was built by volunteers.

The Lamson Woods State Preserve has trails for walking only, and connects to the Neff Walking Trail.

Here we cross Crow Creek. Except for two steel bridge supports on concrete piers, construction is all wood.
